Meet Me,
My name is Christy Rouse, the photographer behind Sutton Photography Studio. My love for photography started as a young teenager with a little Le Clic 110 camera, constantly begging my parents for film and money to get it developed. Many years later, my husband gifted me my first DSLR, the Canon EOS Rebel T2i, and it completely reignited that passion. I took that camera all the way to Rome with us on a trip and fell in love with capturing the world through my lens.
Since then, I never looked back. It led me to return to college to gain my associate's degree in Photographic Technology, proudly I graduated with honors in 2012.
Along the way I have photographed newborns, graduates, families and live music. I did some freelance work for an online publisher, RockstarCulture. I meet some really cool photographers, amazing bands but it didn't pay and there were some long late-night rides home. I realized that I loved concert photography but because of where we live my options are limited unless I wanted to continue to travel.
I ultimately decided to stay closer to home, focus on my family and grow my photography business locally.
These days, I love being a storyteller through my lens, capturing the fleeting moments of tears, laughter, and joy. Whether it’s a quiet embrace with a grandparent or a slow dance between a father and daughter, those authentic moments are the ones that truly tell the story. My journalistic approach as a documentarian of life events is what has brought me the most joy.
Yes, I still get nervous before every wedding; double check all my cameras, SD cards, batteries, etc. Documenting such an important day means so much to me, that a stranger saw my work & said, "I want her to tell my story."
I love every crazy fun moment of it!
